Role OverviewThe Inpatient pharmacy at MedStar Harbor Hospital is hiring a Full Time Pharmacy Technician II. This is a 40 hour per week position working a rotation of Day and Evening shifts.
What You Will Do
Assists pharmacists in obtaining patient specific information as appropriate for safe medication management. Prepares and fills routine orders for prescribed medications; restocks automated dispensing machines; repackages medications; compounds both sterile and non-sterile medications.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Participates in the evaluation of the hospital's medication management system for risk points and identifies areas to improve safety. Safely and accurately prepares all medications in the most ready to administer form (including hazardous medications and sterile products) using proper techniques, calculations and appropriate precautions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of an approved/accredited Pharmacy Technician training program preferred
- 6 to 12 months related pharmacy technician experience preferred
- Hospital environment experience preferred
- Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Maryland Board of Pharmacy required upon hire
- National Pharmacy Technician license such as the PTCB or ExCPT required upon hire
