Job Description
Join Geisinger’s School of Phlebotomy as a paid student phlebotomist! The next cycle of the School of Phlebotomy begins on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. This is a comprehensive training program where the employed student phlebotomist will learn to perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens on all age groups, from children to adults.

Requirements

  • Trained to perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to prescribed procedures
  • Exhibit accuracy in specimen identification, labeling, accessioning, processing, and patient billing
  • Provide timely transport of a specimen to the appropriate specimen processing or analyzing location
  • Demonstrate good problem-solving skills, recognize discrepancies in patient orders, and resolve or refer problems as appropriate
  • Evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability, resolve discrepancies as appropriate, and initiate the recollection process as necessary
  • Accurately process specimens for analysis according to prescribed procedures
  • Abide by Geisinger and Geisinger Medical Laboratories policies and procedures
