Job Description
Pipefitter job involves laying out, assembling, installing, and maintaining pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Job duties include cutting, threading, and hammering pipe, attaching pipes to walls and structures, and modifying, cleaning, and maintaining pipe systems. 4 years of Journeyman-level experience and certifications/ licenses such as NCCER, a Valid Driver’s License, and TWIC Card are required.

Requirements

  • Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair
  • Select pipe sizes and types and related materials
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems
  • Install automatic controls
  • Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids
  • Remove and replace worn components
  • Inspect work sites for obstructions
