Role OverviewHDR is seeking a Power Project Engineer (Substation Design) to join our Power sector in Sacramento, California. This role involves shaping how electricity is generated, transmitted, and delivered, contributing to reliable and sustainable power systems. You will work on high voltage substation design projects, including physical and protection & controls design for 12 kV through 500kV projects.
What You Will Do
You will understand physical substation design including yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and control building arrangements. You will prepare calculations for studies and reports, review project documents for conflicts, write and edit project specifications, and coordinate the work of the power design team. You will also establish meetings with governing agencies, coordinate workload to meet schedules, and provide construction contract administration as needed.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)
