Role Overview

The Montana Department of Corrections is creating a safer Montana through Accountability, Rehabilitation and Empowerment. The Pre-Sentence Investigation Writer position completes pre-sentence investigations and risk assessments to make recommendations to address the risks and needs of various offenders.

What You Will Do

Conducts pre-sentence investigations, risk and needs assessments, and writes reports to make recommendations to address the risks and needs of various offenders. Interviews offenders, victims, witnesses, and other individuals to gather information and reduce it to writing in the Pre-Sentence Investigation Report.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The successful candidate must be able to type 40 wpm and have an associate degree in criminology, human behavior, and social work or related fields, and two years of law enforcement or public safety experience.
