Role Overview

The Prevention Specialist is responsible for programmatic duties in the youth prevention programs (YPU and/or YPI) with the Department of State Health Services (HHSC) grant. The role involves providing program services to youth and the community, administering evidence-based curriculum, and promoting prevention programs.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include providing program services, administering curriculum, conducting ATOD positive alternative activities, developing marketing materials, attending community events, and submitting reports.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a preferred Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social work, Sociology, Communication, or other human services field, and a minimum of one year of relevant experience or sufficient knowledge working with 'high risk' communities.

Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social work, Sociology, Communication, or other human services field
  • Certified Prevention Specialist Certificate (must be willing to earn within 20 months of employment)
  • Minimum of one year relevant experience or sufficient knowledge working with 'high risk' community
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred
