Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Investigator to lead archaeological investigations throughout Louisiana, southeastern Texas, Mississippi, and the broader Gulf Coast. The successful candidate will independently lead projects, develop regulatory strategies, manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and risk, and deliver defensible, high-quality work products.

What You Will Do

The Principal Investigator will serve as a trusted client and agency contact, mentor archaeological staff, support proposals and business development, and help expand HDR’s regional cultural resources capabilities.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The successful candidate will have a strong applied knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, National Register of Historic Places criteria, and applicable state antiquities, cemetery, and environmental review requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years Archaeological experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in planning, managing and executing archeological investigations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to manage multiple field crews
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Requires ability to travel
  • Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities
  • Must be able to handle cultural resources in a variety of geographic settings throughout the US
