Job Description
Role Overview

As a Principal Scientist at BeOne Institute, you will play a key role in conceptualizing, enabling, and driving cutting-edge research at our San Carlos, CA site. You will apply advanced mass spectrometry technologies to uncover novel biological insights, enable emerging therapeutic modalities, and develop innovative screening and characterization approaches that expand the frontiers of drug discovery.

What You Will Do

Contribute creatively to the scientific direction of the Institute by ideating, challenging, and advancing bold, high-impact research opportunities. Design and execute innovative research programs that leverage mass spectrometry to address important biological questions, enable emerging therapeutic modalities, and create new capabilities for drug discovery.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This is a rare opportunity to pursue bold ideas and translate them into real medicines! You will have the ability to partner effectively with scientists across biology, chemistry, and other disciplines to translate biological questions into fit-for-purpose mass spectrometry approaches.

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline
  • 6+ years (Ph.D.), 8+ years (M.S.), or 10+ years (B.S.) of relevant industry, academic, or postdoctoral experience
  • Deep expertise in mass spectrometry, with demonstrated hands-on experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing LC-MS instrumentation
  • Strong experience developing and implementing mass spectrometry-based screening and proteomics workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to apply mass spectrometry to address complex biological questions and generate mechanistic insights
  • Experience with quantitative proteomics and/or other MS-based approaches for protein identification, characterization, interaction analysis, or pathway interrogation
  • Experience developing and optimizing sample preparation, chromatography, and MS methods to enable sensitive, robust, and reproducible biological assays
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to extract meaningful biological insights from complex mass spectrometry datasets
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot analytical challenges and develop creative solutions to enable new applications and research capabilities
  • Ability to partner effectively with scientists across biology, chemistry, and other disciplines to translate biological questions into fit-for-purpose mass spectrometry approaches
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
