Role OverviewThe Probation and Parole Sergeant position plays a central role in managing the correctional population, promoting public safety, and encouraging offenders to make positive life-changing decisions for their future. They also oversee the issue of equipment for Probation and Parole staff, including firearms and state vehicles.
What You Will Do
The Probation and Parole Sergeant will arrest, detain violators, and testify in district court information hearings relative to sentencing or revocation of client's probation or parole status. They will also provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in behavioral science and 3 years of experience in Probation and Parole. They will also be POST Basic Certification after attending training at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and successfully completing one year of employment with the Department of Corrections.
