Role OverviewThe Production Tech Lead - FARROWING will be responsible for ensuring adherence to safety, Animal Welfare, and Bio-Security procedures, motivating team members to increase production, and evaluating and implementing continuous improvement of the swine production process. The role involves performing necropsy, collecting tissue samples, examining animals for illness or injury, and communicating with management and veterinarians. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of advanced sow/gilt care and handling, breeding functions, and animal identification.
What You Will Do
The Production Tech Lead - FARROWING will perform a variety of tasks, including adhering to and monitoring team members during production activities, motivating team members to increase production, serving as a liaison between team members and management, evaluating and implementing continuous improvement of the swine production process, and performing necropsy and collecting tissue samples. The role also involves examining animals for illness or injury, treating minor injuries, and communicating with management and veterinarians.

Requirements
- 4-year college degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a similar production environment
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Experience with or ability to learn farm technology (computers, hand-held devices, wand sows, and other equipment, as necessary)
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
- Ability to effectively lead a team
- Be a team-oriented, self-motivated, and positive individual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Bio-Security and swine production
- Ability to work weekends, as scheduled
- Ability to continually bend, push, grasp, and pull up to 60 lbs
- Continual walking and/or standing, up to 95% of the day
- Reliable method of transportation required
