Role OverviewThe Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets. The Research, Implementation, and Safety Unit (RIS) is a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to making the streets of New York City safer for all users as part of Vision Zero. The RIS Safety Projects and Programs team is seeking a Project Coordinator to plan, develop, design, conduct outreach, and implement Street Improvement Projects to improve safety for pedestrians, motor vehicles, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorcyclists.
What You Will Do
Key tasks for this position include performing research and crash analysis, scoping and designing safety improvement projects, analyzing traffic data, preparing reports/graphics and maps, conducting field work, coordinating project implementation, and providing technical assistance to senior staff. The selected candidates will also be required to participate in community outreach, including developing outreach plans and materials, meetings with public officials, Community Boards, and inter- and intra-agency stakeholders.

Requirements
- baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- two years of experience in community work or community centered activities
- valid NYS Driver's License
- proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite
- experience in AutoCAD, GIS, and traffic engineering software
- knowledge of traffic calming, urban design, pedestrian-oriented design, complete streets, and traffic engineering
