Role OverviewThe Project Engineer will plan, manage, and coordinate the implementation of technical studies, design, and construction of City facilities and transportation, drainage, water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
What You Will Do
The Project Engineer will prepare and administer contracts, manage capital improvement projects, review construction plans, and communicate with consultants and contractors.

Requirements
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering, construction engineering or a closely related field
- Minimum of three (3) years professional civil engineering experience
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
- Skill in operating the listed tools and equipment
- Knowledge of engineering related computer applications
- Ability to conduct necessary engineering research and compile comprehensive reports
- Considerable skill in arriving at cost estimates on complex projects
- Thorough knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting
- Thorough knowledge of applicable City policies, laws, and regulations affecting Division activities
- Familiarity with Project Management Book of Knowledge’s (PMBOK) Knowledge Areas and Process Group
- Knowledge / Training on TxDOT Local Government Project Procedures (LGPP)
- Able to supervise assigned staff and facilitate the team task and performance
- Must possess a valid Driver's License by date of hire
- Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of hire
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or registered in other States with the ability to become registered in Texas by appropriate means within six (6) months of hire
