Role Overview

The Project Estimator plays a key role in the preparation of complete EPC proposals for high-voltage electrical, renewables, and utility projects. This position is responsible for evaluating RFP packages to determine scope, constructability, and proposal requirements, ensuring a compliant and competitive submission.

What You Will Do

The Project Estimator leads the development of detailed cost estimates and supporting documentation, collaborating with preconstruction team members and cross-functional stakeholders to develop scope, pricing, execution plans, and schedules.

The ideal candidate has a post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably within the electric utility or EPC sectors.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably within the electric utility or EPC sectors
  • Experience with renewable, distribution, and substation projects considered an asset
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor productivity
  • Experience using estimating software such as Hard Dollar (or equivalent)
  • Experience with digital take-off tools such as Bluebeam
  • Ability to develop project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with document management software such as SharePoint
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across engineering, procurement, construction, and project management functions
  • Proven ability to coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
  • Able to clearly articulate estimate assumptions, risk considerations, and commercial impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences
