Role Overview

The Property Accountant is responsible for the full lifecycle of property-related accounting, including leases, capital expenditures, tenant improvements, and reconciliations. This role partners closely with the Real Estate team, oversees expense allocations, supports budgeting and forecasting, and ensures compliance with ASC 842 and GAAP standards.

What You Will Do

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for rent, CAM, taxes, and utilities, record monthly rent payments, manage tenant improvements, capital expenditures, and property-related assets/liabilities, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual property financial statements and variance analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3–5 years of property or lease accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and ASC 842 lease accounting standards
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Aderant or similar) and Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience in professional services or law firm environment preferred
  • Familiarity with multi-office, multi-state lease portfolios
  • Professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information
