Role OverviewThe Public Health Engineering Consultant will support the Bureau of Environmental Sciences and Engineering's mission to prevent waterborne illness caused by poorly maintained or improperly managed systems in the built environment. The candidate will provide subject matter expertise and coordination across a range of building systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment and premise plumbing.
What You Will Do
The candidate will supervise a technical group, identify and troubleshoot complex factors that contribute to waterborne disease risks, review and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and technical specifications, and develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

Requirements
- At least ten (10) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in engineering consulting, technical or supervisory role working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with government agencies, regulatory programs, or public health initiatives.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering plans and technical specifications.
- Master's or PhD degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, cooling towers, and premise plumbing design.
- Preference given to licensed Professional Engineers (PE) with a background in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
