Role OverviewThe QA/Automation Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, and executing automated testing capabilities to ensure the quality, reliability, accessibility, performance, and security of IT solutions for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The role involves creating and maintaining automated testing frameworks, ensuring test coverage aligns with Agile requirements, and supporting Sprint testing activities.
What You Will Do
Create and maintain automated testing frameworks, use automated unit and system tests, and ensure test coverage aligns with Agile requirements. Support Sprint testing activities and ensure traceability across requirements → configurable items → test cases → results.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or IT related degree
- 6-10 years' experience
- Experience covering functional, regression, performance, 508 accessibility, and security testing
- Experience supporting Agile/Scrum teams and contributing to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps automation
- Experience conducting pre‐ and post‐release testing, synthetic monitoring, and load/performance testing
- Experience producing Release Quality Metrics Reports and contributing to independent testing (IV&V, ISQA)
- Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices
- Demonstrated performance with Oracle/SQL; relational/non-relational data; APIs; ETL/ELT; data models/dictionaries; migration architecture; reconciliation
