QC Biochemist Group Leader

The QC Biochemist Group Leader will support bioassay testing and equipment maintenance while ensuring compliance, documentation accuracy, and team development. The role involves performing bioassays, cell passages, media/buffer prep, equipment calibrations, and sanitization, as well as maintaining lab cleanliness and organization. The Group Leader will also be responsible for coaching and developing team members, monitoring workflow to meet turnaround times, conducting performance reviews, and managing training and succession planning.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities include performing bioassays, cell passages, media/buffer prep, equipment calibrations, and sanitization, maintaining lab cleanliness and organization, entering and verifying data, reviewing qualification protocols and logbook entries, and performing second-person verification. The Group Leader will also troubleshoot instrument-related issues, act as a technical resource for equipment, and interact with customers, vendors, and support groups to resolve qualification and operational issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences (e.g., chemistry, physics) or related field
• 4+ years of relevant lab experience (bioassays, cell passages, media/buffer prep)
• Ability to learn new techniques, troubleshoot instruments, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Experience with equipment qualification, maintenance, and documentation
• Proven leadership with a focus on team development, engagement, morale, and retention
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
