Role OverviewThe Railroad Equipment Repair Specialist will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation, adjustment, and testing of railroad track equipment, associated control systems, and air tools. This position performs skilled mechanical and electrical work to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment used in rail maintenance and construction activities.
What You Will Do
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, inspects, disassembles, cleans, repairs, replaces, adjusts, installs, reassembles, and performs tests on controls and components of track equipment and air tools. Advises shop personnel of troubleshooting procedures regarding equipment performance.

Must be experienced in the mechanical and electrical inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of track, field, and shop equipment, and controls. Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory; have ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings, schematics, etc.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Two years of technical school or related experience required
- Must be experienced in the mechanical and electrical inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of track, field, and shop equipment, and controls
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain CDL Class A permit within 90 days
- Qualify on governing rules as required by the division standards
- Possess tools pertinent to the occupation
