Role OverviewThe Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for Ranger I positions to maintain a safe and secure environment throughout the Massachusetts State House. Rangers provide an active and visible uniformed presence, ensuring public safety, discouraging criminal activity, and protecting the State House's cultural resources. They also offer visitor services, provide information, and direct visitors to their intended destinations within the building.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include inspecting employee identifications, performing security screenings, operating security technology, monitoring facility systems, and responding to emergencies. Rangers also enforce State House building rules, issue parking citations, and provide customer service to the public.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Applicants should have at least two years of experience in public safety, emergency management, security, public administration, or law enforcement. The position requires a current and valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator's license, CPR certificate, and standard first aid and personal safety certificate.
Requirements
- At least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in the public safety, emergency management, security, public administration, or law enforcement field(s)
- Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator's license
- Possession of a current and valid CPR certificate from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
- Possession of a current and valid standard first aid and personal safety certificate and first responder certificate issued by the American Red Cross
