Role Overview

The Ohio Department of Taxation is seeking a Revenue Economist to perform a wide range of research activities, including analyzing proposed tax changes and existing taxes to determine revenue impacts for policy makers. The Revenue Economist will also conduct research on tax policy issues and provide detailed information and insight into tax receipts and forecasts of future results.

What You Will Do

As a Revenue Economist, you will evaluate the impact of proposed tax changes on state tax receipts, analyze existing taxes for revenue impact and provide forecasts of future results, and conduct research on tax policy issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economics and tax law, with experience in statistical software, query languages, and data analysis techniques. The Revenue Economist will work closely with policy makers to provide detailed information and insight into tax receipts and forecasts of future results.

Requirements

  • Completion of graduate core program in economics, statistics, business administration or public administration
  • 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in use of statistical software (e.g., SAS), query languages & data base analysis techniques
  • 36mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in tax law & government structure & process (e.g., laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders & agency rules pertaining to taxation)
  • 36mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in academic analytical research
