Role OverviewThe Records Specialist provides clerical support for the Police Department, processing and distributing departmental reports, maintaining records systems, and interacting with the public. The role requires working variable 8 to 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and maintaining confidentiality of information. The Records Specialist must be able to work day, swing, and graveyard shifts on a rotating basis.
What You Will Do
The Records Specialist performs routine and moderately complex clerical and administrative support work, including answering phones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, and other essential law enforcement clerical duties. The role involves preparing follow-up reports, preparing law enforcement records for disclosure, and ensuring records and information systems are maintained in accordance with rules and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, two years of continuous administrative or clerical work experience, and the ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute with accuracy. The candidate must also be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other City officials and the public, and understand and execute moderately complex oral or written directions.
