Role OverviewThe Referral Specialist coordinates internal and external referrals ordered by providers, working closely with physicians and other members of the care team. This role requires a high level of interpersonal skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to prioritize and work under deadline.
What You Will Do
The Referral Specialist will schedule and coordinate specialist appointments, procedures, and tests, monitor EMR orders, validate insurance coverage, and assemble patient information. They will also respond to provider and patient requests, participate in process improvement activities, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School education or equivalent
- One year of experience in a medical office and/or prior experience coordinating referrals
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of medical record content and sequence
- Training or experience in medical coding and managed care insurance plans
- Knowledge of appointment scheduling process
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Communicate effectively, both verbal and written
- Able to prioritize, maintain accurate records, and work under deadline
- Excellent customer service skills
