Role OverviewWorks within a team environment to obtain prior authorization, complete patient registration, and schedule initial evaluations for physical, occupational and speech therapists for all outpatient rehabilitation locations across the system.
What You Will Do
Answer telephone calls professionally and courteously, utilize various healthcare applications, obtain and verify referrals, insurance information, prior authorizations, ICD-10 codes, and billing requirements, accurately register and schedule patients for outpatient rehabilitation appointments, communicate effectively with patients, physicians, rehabilitation staff, and insurance companies.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Must have education in anatomy and ICD-10 coding to ensure proper reimbursement, must be cross-trained in the positions of Rehab Secretary and Outpatient Rehab Technician, must demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Hospital or rehabilitation services experience required
- Working knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and rehabilitation services required
- ICD-10 coding knowledge strongly preferred
- One to two years of healthcare experience, with knowledge of both the clerical and clinical aspects of rehabilitation services
- Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, decision-making, and attention-to-detail skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
