Job Description
WBHM is seeking a local government and communities reporter to bring stories to our audience that help explain public policy and show how those decisions impact people living around Birmingham.

Requirements

  • Producing original, compelling stories, including breaking news and advances WBHM’s coverage
  • Identifying investigative projects and original enterprise by cultivating sources, using Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and building databases
  • Reporting and writing original stories that match WBHM’s standards for accuracy, fairness and newsworthiness
  • Telling stories on all editorial platforms, including digital and visual media, social networks and podcasts
  • Collaborating with editors, reporters and producers in WBHM’s newsroom and with other editorial partners
