Role OverviewThe Research Assistant I will assist in the design, execution, and analysis of assays that assess in vitro and in vivo antibiotic efficacy, cytotoxicity, and on-target engagement. The employee will also assist with other tasks that support the operation of the overall lab.
What You Will Do
The Research Assistant I will be responsible for assisting in the growth and maintenance of BSL 1 and BSL 2 bacterial cultures, preparing and sterilizing growth media, designing DNA constructs, cloning, and expression and purification of recombinant proteins, and maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment and glassware.

Requirements
- A minimum of 1-year full time research experience working in a biological or chemistry laboratory setting
- College level course work required
- Degree in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology or a related discipline strongly preferred
- Experience performing biochemical assays and evaluating bacterial growth
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to learn new techniques and instruments
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work with a diverse team of scientists
