Role Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Research Technician II in the human molecular genetics/genomics field for the laboratory of Dr. Rinki Ratnapriya at Baylor College of Medicine. The lab focuses on harnessing the power of genomic technologies to address translational and clinical bioinformatic challenges pertaining to retinal and macular degenerative diseases.

What You Will Do

Perform routine data quality control, organize sequencing data and metadata, and maintain accurate records of data processing activities. Generate summary reports and visualizations, and assisting with data interpretation and project documentation.

Assist with the analysis of genomic data using established pipelines under the supervision. Participate in laboratory meetings, training activities, and discussions of project progress. Collaborate with laboratory staff to coordinate data processing activities and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field
  • Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement
