Job Description
The research program of Dr. Krishna Bhat in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UAB is accepting applications for a Researcher Associate to support research on Drosophila development/neurobiology. The technician will maintain fly stocks, assist with genetic crosses and routine molecular biology, and help with day-to-day lab organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required
  • Preferences: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Neuroscience, or related field
  • Hands on experience in a research lab performing basic molecular biology and/or cell/organismal work
  • Familiarity with Drosophila handling (sorting, anesthetizing, setting crosses) or a strong willingness to learn quickly
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation (e.g. Excel, GraphPad, image analysis software as applicable)
