Role Overview

As a Resident Advocate PRN, you will play a vital part in creating a safe and supportive environment for survivors of family violence as they begin rebuilding their lives. You will ensure the shelter remains secure, welcoming, and well-maintained, helping to restore a sense of stability and dignity for each resident. Through compassionate support, active listening, and collaboration with the program team, you will empower individuals to move forward with confidence and hope.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include providing emotional support to residential clients, collaborating with Case Managers and supervisor, intervening in crisis situations, and ensuring the shelter is safe and clean. You will also assist clients with basic life skills activities, conduct client exit interviews, and monitor the facility for safety and cleanliness.

You will be sensitive to the language, economic, and cultural needs of clients, and maintain professional boundaries at all times. You will also be able to work overtime when necessary to cover shifts and be available to work some weekends, evenings, and overnight hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, sociology, or similar with 6 months of experience working in a residential facility, shelter, or similar environment
  • Associate degree and any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and a clear driving record
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish, may be required for some roles
