Job Description
Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking Resident Teachers for the 2026-2027 cohort. The Resident Teacher program is an accelerated program that prepares new teachers for successful teaching careers. Resident Teachers will gain experience in classroom management, support students' academic growth, and build long-term support systems. After completing the program, Resident Teachers will accept a full-time lead teaching role in CPS.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Previous experience working with Chicago Public Schools and/or CPS students (preferred)
  • Commit to a minimum of 4 years of employment with Chicago Public Schools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning
