Role Overview

The Right-of-Way Groundman and Right-of-Way Trimmer/Operator I are responsible for maintaining the Cooperative's electric system by efficiently assisting in the performance of daily activities relative to the right-of-way maintenance. They must represent the Cooperative in a professional manner, meeting the member's needs and enhancing the Cooperative image. They will work primarily outside, subject to work on weekends, at night, and during severe storm conditions.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Right-of-Way Groundman and Right-of-Way Trimmer/Operator I include performing right-of-way clearing duties, such as tree felling, trimming, chipping, and piling, as well as assisting in dismantling, cleaning, and repairing right-of-way clearing equipment. They will also participate in job training, safety, and employee information meetings, and ensure safe work procedures are used at all times.

To be successful in this role, you must have good basic mechanical knowledge, the ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees, and the general public, and the ability to operate a computer and/or electronic tablet. You must also have the ability to follow written or oral instructions, quickly learn the proper and safe use of tools and equipment assigned, and possess a current valid driver's license. A valid 'Class A' Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is required for the Right-of-Way Trimmer/Operator I position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • One year related work experience preferred
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to operate assigned equipment
  • Ability to climb and perform work from trees and a bucket truck
  • Ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees, and the general public
  • Ability to operate a computer and/or electronic tablet
  • Valid 'Class A' Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required
