Role Overview

The RNA Core Facility Manager will be instrumental in establishing the RNA Core to provide long-read sequencing for identifying new RNA species and mapping RNA modifications. The Manager will research and develop methodologies for researchers to study diverse aspects of RNA biology. The RNA core will function as a pass-through service provider with the Manager facilitating sample and data transfer to other COBRE funded cores at Brown.

What You Will Do

The Manager will implement RNA biology protocols as a “front-end” to services provided by other cores, including identifying RBP occupancy and binding specificity, RNA visualization, RNA functional genomics, experimental design for RNA biophysical and structural analysis, and facilitating data transfer to the Computational Biology Core.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in genetics, genomics or molecular biology or related field, plus 4 years relative experience, and prior experience mentoring younger researchers. The candidate should also have strong computational biology skills, programming experience, and experience operating Oxford Nanopore sequencer.

Requirements

  • PhD graduate research experience in genomics and performing long read sequencing on RNA and DNA
  • Experience operating Oxford Nanopore sequencer
  • Prior experience mentoring younger researchers
