Role OverviewThe Route Driver is responsible for representing the company while making deliveries and picking up freight. The job involves delivering and picking up freight in a timely manner, inspecting and reporting any mechanical problems with the vehicle, and maintaining a professional personal appearance.
What You Will Do
Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner, inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle, load the truck in an organized manner, collect payments for certain packages delivered, and notify management of any problems or discrepancies.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The successful candidate will possess good customer service skills, be able to work independently, and have the ability to operate a manual transmission or have the willingness to learn.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Hold a valid Driver's License with a good driving record which meets company standards
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
- Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicle
- Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
