Job Description
Role Overview

The Safety and Health Inspector will operate a state vehicle to travel to and inspect ODOT work facilities, jobsites, and equipment to ensure compliance with Federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Public Employment Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) regulations. The inspector will also perform required monthly inspections of facilities and worksites, observe workers for use of prescribed safety apparel, and address unsafe worksite behavior.

What You Will Do

The Safety and Health Inspector will perform safety investigations of personal injury and vehicle crashes, obtain police reports and witness statements, and prepare and submit investigatory and inspection reports. The inspector will also serve on various safety committees, provide safety-related training, and assist in recommending and distributing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have 12 months of experience in conducting safety, health, and fire inspections, or completion of an undergraduate major program core coursework in environmental health. The candidate will also be able to provide own transportation and have strong occupational safety skills.

Requirements

  • 12 months of experience in conducting safety, health, and fire inspections of work sites or residential care facilities or personal accident and injury investigations and/or vehicular accident investigations
