Role OverviewThe Safety Specialist 2 will create, support, and audit safety programs to reinforce Kiewit's commitment to safety. The role involves implementing and supporting the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field, assisting the Project Safety Manager, and verifying work execution. The Safety Specialist 2 will also problem-solve with operations and craft, assist with corrective measures, and provide resources to correct and maintain solutions.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include developing, reviewing, and updating the Site Specific Safety Plan, collaborating with craft to encourage buy-in of the safety program, exercising Stop Work Responsibility, and planning, prioritizing, and problem-solving with operations in the field.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have OSHA certifications, a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, and at least 2 years of experience in a safety specialist role. Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills are also required.
Requirements
- OSHA 30, 500, and 510 certifications
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years in a safety specialist role
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician
- Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good attention to detail

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in various climates and environments
