Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for the coordination of safety activities throughout the facility. This is includes being directly responsible for the implementation, maintenance and continuance of the facility safety, health policies and procedures. Needs flexibility in hours as business needs demand, occasional weekend overtime. No travel required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and administer safety training for all employees (including outside sales personnel, office, etc.)
Conduct timely accident/incident investigations and ensure timely reporting to plant management and EHS Manager.
Ensure that all corrective actions based on the recommendations of safety committee meetings are completed and communicated within established time frames.
Conduct the annual review of safety manuals and update them as needed.
Maintain Hazcom requirements and keep SDS data current.
Coordinate Industrial Hygiene surveys as required (air, noise, ergonomics, etc.)
Ensure that SOP/ JSA’s & LOTO procedures are completed for all new processes, materials, and equipment before use.
Review safety related documents and narratives such as Safety Committee minutes, inspection reports, forklift inspection checklists, accident investigation reports, and near miss reports
Keep records of all employee training, corrections of unsafe conditions, and dates and results of workplace inspections. Submit necessary documentation to the corporate office for recordkeeping.
Maintain all weekly, monthly, and yearly safety inspections.
Maintain all hazardous material and hazardous material area checks.
Oversee all yearly updates to the safety program, including the Safety Manual, Injury Illness Prevention Plan, Emergency Procedures Manual, and the Emergency Contingency Plan
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience with computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required.
Prior experience interacting with coworkers at all levels from shop floor to Plant Managers.
Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment.
Education and Experience:
Required:
Associates Degree (two year college or technical school)
One to Two (1-2) years of experience in a Safety position.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification
Working Conditions:
Manufacturing Plant environment where the plants may be dirt, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings.
Monday – Friday
Occasional overtime or weekends required.
