Project Summary:
Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM) is seeking a Sales Development Intern to support sales and business development initiatives while gaining hands-on experience across the full sales lifecycle. This Summer internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience—from lead generation and outreach to opportunity management, reporting, and market insights.
Throughout the internship, you will work alongside experienced sales professionals to strengthen communication and presentation skills, learn how to evaluate and qualify opportunities, and develop practical experience using CCM’s customer relationship management (CRM) system and opportunity reporting tools. By the end of the internship, you will have a stronger understanding of the construction materials market, industry trends, and how sales strategy supports business growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead Generation & Market Research: Identify and research potential opportunities through market research, networking, and targeted outreach; build and maintain prospect lists for follow-up
Outreach & Qualification: Engage prospects via cold calling, email, and social messaging; gather key details (need, timeline, decision process) and route qualified opportunities appropriately
Sales Support & Presentations: Assist with drafting/refining sales presentations, outreach messaging, and supporting materials tailored to customer needs and value propositions
CRM & Pipeline Management: Update and maintain accurate opportunity records in CCM’s CRM, including notes, next steps, and customer details to support pipeline visibility
Reporting & Performance Tracking: Track activity and pipeline metrics; support reporting and basic analysis to evaluate outreach effectiveness and progress toward goals
Team Support & Development: Provide general sales support (records, specs, customer follow-ups); participate in sales training and team meetings and apply learnings day-to-day
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Industrial Distribution, Business/Marketing, or a related field
Comfortable using technology tools, including Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Teams), and generative AI
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to interact professionally with internal teams and prospective customers
Interest in sales, business development, and market research, with a willingness to learn and take initiative
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
