Job Description
Prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Reads work orders and receives instructions verbally.
  • Prepare the surface using methods appropriate to remove dirt, oil, and grease, removing old paint, smoothing cracks, coating, and filling holes.
  • Work at heights with no fear.
  • May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface.
  • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce the desired color, according to specifications using a paddle or mechanical mixer.
  • May erect scaffolding or set up a ladder to perform tasks above ground level.
  • Apply paint to the surface using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller.
  • Physical demands described include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
