Requirements

• Must be able to prepare wood and metal surfaces for painting, and paint equipment, parts, machinery, buildings, and other working areas using a spray gun, brush, and rollers
• Reads work orders and receives instructions verbally
• Prepare the surface using methods appropriate to remove dirt, oil, and grease, removing old paint, smoothing cracks, coating, and filling holes
• Work at heights with no fear
• May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce the desired color, according to specifications using a paddle or mechanical mixer
• May erect scaffolding or set up a ladder to perform tasks above ground level
• Apply paint to the surface using a spray gun, brush, and/or roller
