Role Overview

The School-Age Counselor – After School position is a part-time, non-exempt role that involves working with children and helping them learn through play and positive experiences. The counselor will facilitate hands-on activities, provide a safe and healthy environment, and act as a positive role model for children in the program. The position is well-suited for parents, education majors, and retirees who enjoy building relationships and supporting student growth.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include facilitating hands-on activities, observing state guidelines and program policies, supporting program operations, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children. The counselor will also be responsible for attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience working with children under 13 years of age preferred
  • Medically cleared of any communicable diseases including TB
  • Must be warm, friendly, and upbeat. Exceptional people skills, professional, reliable, and prompt
  • Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, carry (up to 50 lbs.), and maintain active supervision while participating in children's routines and activities
