Role Overview

The School Athletic Director plays a critical role in overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive high school athletics program. The role requires a strong understanding of athletic administration rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, as well as exceptional organizational and time management skills. The Athletic Director will be held accountable for various responsibilities, including administering extracurricular athletic programs, maintaining files and records, and responding to requests for information.

What You Will Do

The School Athletic Director will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including maintaining files and records, responding to requests for information, implementing board policies, assessing department needs, evaluating extracurricular athletic programs, and developing and updating handbooks and policy manuals. The role also involves overseeing transportation, arranging field and gymnasium practice schedules, and managing contracts for athletic contests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
  • NIAAA Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA) preferred
  • Completion of Developing Competitors and Mental Wellness through Positive Coaching offered through the Positive Coaches Alliance- preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in interscholastic sports (e.g., coaching, athletic program administration)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sports program administration
  • Supervisory experience preferred
