Role OverviewThe School-Based Health Assistant works under direct supervision to perform daily operations of the clinic, including administering first aid, dispensing medication, and conducting health screenings. They work at an entry-level capacity and are responsible for maintaining accurate records and providing care for ill students. The role requires working in a team environment and performing related duties as directed.
What You Will Do
The main responsibilities of the School-Based Health Assistant include administering first aid, dispensing medication, conducting health screenings, and maintaining accurate records. They will also assist with blood sugar monitoring, inhaler administration, and Epi-pen administration. Additionally, they will inspect for head lice, administer CPR, and recognize and report child abuse/neglect.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of OCPS Comprehensive Health Assistant training
- Ability to calculate, compute, summate, and/or tabulate data and/or information
- Ability to provide guidance, assistance and/or interpretation to others on how to apply procedures and standards to specific situations
- Ability to start, stop, operate and monitor the functioning of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions
- Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information
- Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change
