Role OverviewThe School Clerk performs difficult and responsible clerical work in a school administrative office, responsible for varied clerical tasks requiring independent judgment and a complete understanding of office rules, policies, and procedures. They work under general supervision of the School Principal/Assistant Principal.
What You Will Do
The School Clerk will relieve the Principal/Assistant Principal, direct administrative office activities, compose and type written communications, compile reports, and maintain records. They will also receive visitors, answer inquiries, and refer them to proper school officials.

Requirements
- Continuous and permanent status in any city department for one year as an Account Clerk-Typist, Account Clerk-Stenographer, Administrative Aide, Legal Secretary, Legal Stenographer, Report Technician, Senior Account Clerk-Typist, Senior Account Clerk-Stenographer, Senior Stenographer, Senior Typist, Stenographer, or Typist
- Completed a course in typing or keyboarding, listed on application
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or business institute in Secretarial Science or a closely related field, including a course in typing or keyboarding (course must be listed on application) and one year of full-time experience where work involves the operation of an alpha numeric keyboard
- Graduation from High School, GED or Equivalency Diploma, including or supplemented by a course in typing or keyboarding (course must be listed on application) and three years of full-time clerical experience, one year of which must have been in the operation of an alpha numeric keyboard
