Role Overview

As a vital member of the school's educational leadership team, the school counselor provides comprehensive, developmental supports within the academic, personal/social, and career domains to ensure students become productive, well-adjusted adults. The school counselor is a uniquely trained professional educator with a mental health perspective who understands and responds to the challenges presented by today's diverse student population.

What You Will Do

Create, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) REACH Framework for School Counselors. Conduct annual needs assessments and data reviews to determine and prioritize student needs. Implement the school counseling core curriculum, provide individual student planning activities, and provide responsive services.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires a Master's degree in school counseling and current ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counseling Endorsement. The school counselor will work collaboratively with students, staff, and families to provide proactive leadership and engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to help all students achieve success in school.
