Job Description
The State of Connecticut, Department of Labor (DOL) is recruiting a Secretary 2 to work in our OSHA Unit, located in Wethersfield, CT. In this role, you would be entrusted to independently perform a full range of secretarial support functions to support the CONN-OSHA Unit. The ideal candidate would have experience organizing, generating, and proofreading correspondence, documents, or reports, and communicating with the public.
Requirements
Three (3) years of experience above the routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work.
One (1) year of the General Experience must have been as a Secretary 1 or its equivalent.
College training in the secretarial sciences may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
Experience organizing, generating, and proofreading correspondence, documents, or reports.
Experience communicating with the public including, answering phones, responding to inquiries from the public, screening incoming calls and directing the caller to the appropriate resource.
Experience with Microsoft Programs including, but not limited to Excel, Word, Teams, Power Point, Outlook, and Mail Merge.
Experience organizing, maintaining, and developing office filing systems (including confidential files).
Experience handling and prioritizing assigned tasks.
Experience working with others, but also independently, to complete tasks and meeting deadlines.
