Security Officer I (Flex)

This position is a flex position. Candidates will be hired in at a level I, with a starting salary of $28.50 hourly. After a 6–24-month period, the selected candidate will be evaluated to determine if they meet the criteria to flex to a level II, with a starting salary of $32.98 hourly. The ideal candidate will possess experience in modern security practices, including the use of surveillance camera systems, alarm technologies, and the ability to conduct investigations of potentially criminal activity.

What You Will Do

Performs a variety of duties in patrolling and safeguarding all District, SNWA, SNWS and Springs Preserve buildings, facilities and property against theft, vandalism, fire, illegal entry and other potential threats; utilizes a variety of electronic and other surveillance equipment in a security operations control center to monitor facilities and critical infrastructure, authenticate access to off-site facilities and dispatch security and other emergency personnel;

Requirements

• High school or G.E.D. equivalent
• Two years of responsible police, security, criminal investigation or closely related experience
• Valid Nevada driver's license
• Current CPR and basic first aid certificate
• Completion of the AWWA Distribution Operator Grade 1 course
• Basic Certification for OCAT and PATH from a firm providing Police Officer Standard Training (POST)
• Completion of the Certified Protection Officer course provided by the International Foundation for Protection Officers
