Role OverviewThe Accountant III (Supervisor) leads assigned accounting staff efforts to provide financial information by preparing reports, maintaining accounting records, and analyzing accounts and program expenditures. The position requires a combination of oversight duties and 'hands-on' accounting work.
What You Will Do
Leads assigned Accounting staff, oversees work of subordinate Accountant(s) for accuracy, prior to final submission of reports, filings or analyses; spot checks data entry; provides experience in financial analysis. Prepares journal entries, worksheets, and financial reports using automated as well as hands-on accounting practices following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of general accounting experience, 4 years of experience working in public or large publicly funded non-profit organization, and 1 year of experience leading accounting and/or audit projects and/or staff; coaching and mentoring junior accountants – with demonstrated problem solving experience.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
- Ability to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years of general accounting experience
- 4 years of experience working in public or large publicly funded non-profit organization
- 1 year of experience leading accounting and/or audit projects and/or staff; coaching and mentoring junior accountants – with demonstrated problem solving experience
