Role OverviewThe Senior Aerospace Test Engineer will lead advanced aerospace experimentation efforts at the Naval Research Laboratory. They will be responsible for defining and overseeing ground and flight aerodynamics experimentation, including subscale wind tunnel testing, high-enthalpy tunnel testing, and captive-carry sounding rocket experimentation.
What You Will Do
The engineer will aid in defining objectives, mission requirements, vehicle configurations, instrumentation, and data acquisition requirements for ground and flight testing. They will also aid in defining objectives, mission requirements, vehicle configurations, instrumentation, and data acquisition requirements for full-scale flight demonstrations.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The successful candidate will have direct experience in supersonic and hypersonic flight and ground experimentation, as well as experience with relevant test facilities such as wind tunnels and complex aerospace test campaigns.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant aerospace experimentation
- Direct experience in supersonic and hypersonic flight and ground experimentation
- Direct experience with relevant test facilities such as wind tunnels
- Direct experience with complex aerospace test campaigns including test definition, setup, and execution
- Comprehensive expertise in aerospace test instrumentation and data acquisition
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
