Alera Group is looking for a Sr. Analytics Consultant. The Senior Analytics Consultant delivers crucial insights into clients' claims history, providing actionable information for budgeting, plan design, optimization, and cost containment. This client-facing role prepares financial dashboard reports derived from carrier claims data, which will be presented directly to clients. The position requires a strong background in the healthcare industry, with experience working for a group insurance carrier, third-party administrator, broker, or consultant, including a solid understanding of carrier and broker underwriting processes. The consultant will leverage various data analytic applications and raw data sets across diverse client demographics and funding methodologies, such as fully insured, level funded, and self-funded models, to translate complex data into strategic benefit plan recommendations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual client reports, including financial dashboards and utilization analyses.
  • Attend client and prospect meetings for financially complex accounts, presenting analytical findings and cost projections.
  • Analyze diverse data sets, including point solutions, to determine ROI and identify opportunities for plan design and product changes based on observed utilization patterns.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners.
  • Contribute to the automation and improvement of existing analytical processes and methodologies.
  • Provide support for special projects and collaborate with the Alera Group Center of Excellence (COE) as needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of all projects and deliverables.
  • Mentor junior team members when in a supervisory capacity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years of experience in an analytics role within the healthcare industry, specifically with a group insurance carrier, third-party administrator, or broker, strongly preferring a carrier-trained underwriter.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference for Business, Finance, Math, Accounting, or a related field; actuarial certification is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and overall proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of group insurance products, including medical, dental, pharmacy, life, and disability, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with database applications is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze data, recognize analytical patterns, and effectively handle multiple client priorities and deadlines.
    Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills for client-facing interactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team with a strong sense of urgency.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This job requires presence in the office on a hybrid schedule as agreed with the manager.
