Role OverviewAs a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will drive the design and development of backend systems that support the Tax Information Reporting Suite (TIRS) and Core Services. You will lead backend engineering efforts, build scalable and reliable services, and ensure high-quality technical delivery.

You will participate actively in release and sprint planning, independently design and develop high-quality backend solutions, develop comprehensive unit test cases, and ensure delivery of high-quality, reliable software.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 5 – 6 years of hands-on experience in core Python and Perl development
- At least 3 years of experience working with relational databases such as Sybase, Oracle, or MS SQL
- Strong knowledge of PL/SQL, with the ability to debug and optimize complex stored procedures and SQL queries
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
- Ability to apply appropriate design patterns during solution design and implementation
- Solid experience with version control tools such as Subversion or Git
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (preferably Azure) is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A good team player with strong collaboration skills
- Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies
