Role Overview

The Senior Budget Analyst will operate with considerable independence, responsible for identifying issues, investigating discrepancies, and resolving financial problems while supporting agency fiscal operations. The role involves developing, managing, and monitoring operating, capital, and grant budgets to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and alignment with approved spending plans. The Senior Budget Analyst will also develop grant budgets, perform fiscal monitoring of approved grants, and maintain quarterly and annual federal and state financial reporting.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of the Senior Budget Analyst include ensuring accurate entry of fiscal data into systems, developing and managing program budgets, and performing fiscal monitoring of approved grants. The role also involves completing grant closeout procedures and ensuring spending remains within approved targets.

Requirements

  • Experience with public sector budget and grant funding requirements
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS), Business Intelligence (BI), Ohio Buys, Pcard portal)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing financial data, coding, compliance requirements, and reporting
  • Proficient in Excel for reporting and financial analysis
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
